Concern:

I am 40 years old, 5'11" and 170lbs. I run at least 5 days a week for an hour or two and am very healthy. I have a problem, I am always able to get hard but it doesn't stay hard for too long. Facing The Obstacle

Erections form out of hydraulic pressure. Specifically, blood gets forced into the right and left corpus cavernosum, which form the bulk of your erection's structure. Think of them as a series of balloons, nested inside each other. It would take a lot of pressure to blow up one balloon inside of two or three others, wouldn't it? But a man's body somehow manages the trick, even if the erection only lasts for the 20-30 minutes usually necessary to bring a woman to orgasm.

Right now, your problems may stem from constricted blood vessels or leaks in the valves that control the flow. Either and both may result from too-frequent orgasms, either from masturbation or sex. Every time you release an erection, whether from ejaculation or just deciding not to finish at the time, your penis develops a few tiny leaks. Your body is capable of repairing these leaks in a day or so, but only if you give it those days to finish the job. If you have sex or masturbate more than once every other day, your body can't keep up with the leaks. The repairs on one set of holes get halfway done before a second set appears. The incomplete repairs leave your tissues inflexible, which can cause even more leakage.

Tools To Pass The Barrier

Assuming that your short-lived erections are due to the causes already discussed, your first response is simple: go without ejaculations for three weeks, give or take. This represents the baseline for how long your body will need to repair inner damage to your penis. The healing process can begin if you limit yourself to no more than one orgasm every three or four days, but your weak erections will be with you for that much longer.

While you're waiting, you have several additional options to explore. You seem to have the moderate exercise program down, so I'll just advise you to also look into increasing your zinc and B-vitamin intake.
