Premenstrual syndrome evokes an array of different symptoms. Some women experience bloatedness. Others report debilitating headaches and migraines. While some women suffer from the gamut of symptoms—bloatedness, headaches, fatigue, irritability, and cramps. Most women can handle the bloatedness; take pills to fight the headaches; and suffer with fatigue. For some women, it’s the cramps and migraines that become unbearable.
Causes
Menstrual cramps, caused by the uterine contractions, occur in response to the prostaglandin, with higher levels of the chemical causing more severe menstrual cramps. The cramping sensations are made worse when clots and bloody tissue are forced through the cervix.
