I Have The Baby Blues

Learn how a woman, desperate to get pregnant, finds her missing piece to the baby puzzle.

Case #: 1202

Concern:

Since marrying my husband, I’ve wanted a baby. Seeing babies on television or holding my friend’s kids makes me envious. And after several failed attempts at getting pregnant, I am looking for answers—and alternatives. I know the problems cannot stem from my husband; he does have another child after all. And I do know that perhaps the issue could be because of my current irregular cycle. So are my assumptions leading me in the right direction?

Discussion:

One of the greatest joys in a woman's life is motherhood.

Baby Blues

The opportunity to share that kind of love with your child should not be taken away from any one. According to medical research there are only four main things you need in order to conceive a child without any problem. You need sperm, a well functioning uterus, regular intercourse, and you must ovulate. But what happens when your efforts to become a mother keep coming up fruitless?

Ovulation Is Key

I believe that in this case, your irregular cycle is what's holding back the baby train. When a woman does not experience regular monthly periods, it also means that she does not ovulate regularly either. Don't get me wrong, it is very possible to bleed, but that doesn't necessarily mean that and egg was locked into your womb. The blood is just a sign that the uterus lining has shed, as it should every month up until a woman reaches menopause.

Irregular Cycling

When a woman does not have a normal menstruation cycle, it's a sign of a hormonal imbalance. This imbalance could be attributed to stress, birth control use, or exhaustion. If you've ever used the pill or any other form of birth control such as the patch, ring, or the shot there could very well be some residual residue left behind. If this is the case, you should really allow yourself about six months to be sure your body is completely free of any build up your birth control may have left behind.

Eat Right And Stay Healthy

A well balanced diet can be crucial when trying to conceive. I would recommend cutting out caffeine and alcohol if possible. You won't be able to ingest them while pregnant anyway, so you might as well start to prepare your body for your baby's temporary residence. It is also important to get plenty of rest so that you're not creating an exhausting lifestyle for yourself. This creates stress which, in turn, makes it that much more difficult to get pregnant.

I would also strongly recommend herbal remedies that include Mexican Wild Yam and Passion Flower. These herbs will help to regulate your periods, realign your hormones, and detoxify your body. (TRY: Herbal Remedy for Menstrual Regulation) You can also try some breathing techniques or yoga a few days out of the week to help get you into the relaxed state needed to conceive.
