Neural Burnout
A longtime masturbator has mostly weaned himself of the habit, but the damage has been done: erections inevitably lead to strong discomfort and prevents ejaculation. What's happening? Read on, get the facts, and find out what you can do.
Case #: 899
Concern:
I use to masturbate 2-3 a day from the age of 12 to 14. I still do but about once or twice a week now. I have a girlfriend and when I get excited with her and get erection[s] but don’t end up having sex (ejaculating) I feel very sore and painful. It feels like a nerve running from my ball bag (testicles) towards my bladder really paining me and feeling sore. Please tell me what it is and how I can remedy myself.
Discussion:
In many ways, masturbation is the most amazingly convenient form of entertainment there is, next to simply daydreaming. Assuming that you've got fully-functional fingers, no expensive external equipment is necessary: just stroke your way to orgasm because everything you need is already there.
Short-Circuit
It's almost too convenient, though. Since you don't immediately get any messages saying “add special ingredient X” or “replace batteries” or the like, it's easy to forget that the process actually does take a toll on your body. Aside from the physical mass lost through ejaculation, you're also expending various nutrients and hormones, accumulating other stuff in your body faster than it can eliminate them and putting wear and tear on various organs.
Diagnostic Analysis
In your specific case, your pain comes from persistent damage to your parasympathetic neural net. That's the one that controls your involuntary organs as well as the internal components of your sexual response. You essentially ran too much “current” through it with your chronic over masturbation without giving it time to regenerate. It's something like your brain is trying to have a phone conversation with your testicles over faulty wiring, but instead of hearing static, your brain gets a “pain” signal.
In terms of hormone production, you've drained your brain's ability to manufacture gamma-amniobutyric acid (GABA), which is critically important for regulating how sensitive your nerves are. At the same time, the mechanisms for producing prostaglandin E-2 are stuck on “High”. At normal levels, the stuff is a “vasodilator” and “bronchiodilator” will respectively make your blood vessels and bronchial tubes wider.
Too much on the other hand, will make the tissues around the blood vessels swell up. Imagine swapping a regular soda-straw for a wider one, but then squeezing the straw while you're trying to drink. Bad enough when your lymph nodes swell up, but if your corpus spongiosum and corpus cavernosum can't get enough blood to fully inflate your erection, it's definitely going to spoil your sex life.
In For Repairs
Fortunately, your body can recover from an awful lot of abuse, IF you give it the supplies and time it needs to do so. The first thing you've got to do is cut your sexual activity, with and without a partner, down to as close to nothing as you can handle, and keep it that way for about three weeks. It sounds tough, but think of it as getting the bed-rest your health-care provider would prescribe after getting the flu: you can do okay without it, but you would definitely do much better with it. This will give your nerves a chance to rebuild themselves, let your liver finish filtering out all the extra junk accumulating in your bloodstream, and allow your other glands to revive their ability to generate the hormones you've been missing.
While your health-care provider might also have some suggestions about medications, especially something like making sure you're drinking at least eight to ten glasses of water each day (to help flush the toxins out of your system) you might consider taking an all-natural herbal supplement designed specifically to address the damage you're suffering.
In the end, you simply need to remember that it will take time and effort to get your erection back to where it was before. After all, you didn't wear it down to its current state overnight, so the repairs will also need some time to complete.
