Are Birth Control Pills the Culprit Behind Your Pyelonephritis?

Pyelonephritis is a type of urinary tract infection (UTI) that invades your kidney, the organ which filters waste from the blood.  While a UTI often affects the bladder, serious consequences can occur if a bladder infection spreads to your kidneys.  A kidney infection can cause upper back and flank pain, high fever, shaking chills, and nausea or vomiting.

Suppression of the urethral or bladder immune system is the main cause of kidney infection.   Kidney infections typically occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder.  Usage of drugs and medications such as birth control suppresses the hormones prostaglandin E-1 and E-3 and nitric oxide, leading to abrasions of tissue and nerves along the urethral tract, vaginal canal and cervix.  This results in excess production of the inflammatory hormone prostaglandin E2, which ignites urinary tract infection.

Excessive prostaglandin E2 production that leads to UTI can be triggered by a hormonal imbalance, such as excessive progesterone or estrogen, or a lack of androstenedione, testosterone or DHT.  Birth control, drugs, excessive sex, or over-ejaculation can elevate epinephrine, cortisol, and prostaglandin E2 to prolong UTI.  Antibiotic treatment of the chronic UTI can cause further problems by strengthening the resistance of bacteria and damaging liver function.

Natural Solutions
The solution for chronic UTI is to power the neuron-immune system, increasing prostaglandin E1 and nitric oxide, suppressing prostaglandin E2, epinephrine and cortisol, balancing sex hormones, and detoxifying the liver, kidneys and bladder.

UTI can be combat effectively with prescription drugs or natural remedies. Many healing herbs are known to increase serotonin and GABA production and stimulate the pineal gland to release melatonin for healing.  Fish oil will increase prostaglandin E3 production and reduce prostaglandin E2 production, leading to more prostaglandin E1 release.
