Breasts go through stages like our life cycle. There are three key factors that influence the growth of breasts: hormones, nutrition, and genetics. Breasts grow rapidly during puberty. At 20+ years
Fully grown breast tissues. The shape, firmness, & fullness are at the genetically predetermined size. For girls with possible defective genes such as BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53, PTEN, STK11/LKB1, CDH1, CHEK2, ATM, MLH1, and MSH2 most likely to start developing a benign breast lump or cyst. [1]
At 30+ years
Breast collagen type I and type III begins to lose elasticity. So most women began to notice some sagging occurred. Smoking women would notice more sagging, because toxins from cigarettes break down breast collagen. It’s recommended that women start breast self-exams and gyno annual check up.
At 40+ years
Gravity, hormonal change, and any pregnancy would make the breast less dense and sagging. American Cancer Society recommends a periodic breast cancer screening by mammography beginning at 40 years of age. [2]
