Premature Ejaculation? Blame Your Overactive Thyroid
Do you suffer from an overactive thyroid? No, this isn't a pharmaceutical commercial, and I'm not trying to sell you some experimental new drug that personal injury lawyers will be getting rich off of in 6 months' time. This is about premature ejaculation.

It's the issue that every man dreads, and the issue that causes every woman to start groaning when she should be moaning. Historically, it's one of the biggest intimacy killers of all time, and research shows that it may be linked to hyperthyroidism. So if you can't figure out why your bedroom aerobics fizzle out after 5 minutes, you just may have your answer. Science: sometimes it's the bearer of bad news.

Why Your Thyroid is Killing Your Sex Life
A 2009 study published by the Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine sought to identify the correlation between overactive thyroid and premature ejaculation. Sure enough, the research determined premature ejaculation symptoms in a staggering 72.1% of the overactive thyroid sufferers who were observed.

The study concluded definitively that “Excess thyroid hormone and premature ejaculation are clinically interrelated conditions.” It's not all bad news, though. The researchers also noted that hyperthyroidism is a reversible risk factor for premature ejaculation, which means that you don't simply need to accept your quick-draw ejaculatory habit as fate. There are steps you can take to reverse the problem.

Premature Ejaculation – Is it Really a Problem?
Maybe you're asking the obvious question right now. What constitutes “premature ejaculation?” Chances are, if you have to ask, you're probably experiencing it. It's a fairly simple concept to grasp.

Either you can hold your ejaculation, or you cannot. If you can last 20 to 30 minutes, you're probably in pretty good shape—assuming that your partner doesn't have orgasmic difficulties of her own. But do you find yourself flopping like a beached seal after 10 minutes?

Or worse, do you find yourself erupting after 5 minutes, only to roll over and cover your face in shame (we've all been there at least once)? If you have this problem, it may just be performance anxiety, it may be prostate inflammation, or it may be a thyroid issue.

To understand it a bit better, hyperthyroidism is just one kind of hormone imbalance, and hormonal issues are among the leading causes of premature ejaculation. In the case of hyperthyroidism, your thyroid produces too much thyroxine.

Excess thyroxine carries a number of annoying side effects, including increased anxiety and nervousness. Unfortunately, these sensations contribute to premature ejaculation by triggering a fight-or-flight response within the body. Your penis is screaming “Go for it!”, but your brain is shouting “Abort mission! Abort mission!” Next thing you know, you're naked, flaccid, and cowering in the fetal position. Or maybe that's just me.

Making Sex...Less Embarrassing
If hyperthyroidism is triggering nervous responses, the solution then is to get the nerves under control. There are herbals remedies (SEECalm Pills for your PE problems), formulated with ingredients like Jujube and Schizandra, which help to soothe the nerves, thereby leading to longer-lasting sex and a less agitated partner (can't put a price on that).

Additionally, try to focus on keeping your nerves under control. Practices like meditation and yoga can be very helpful in the long run, and if you have any performance anxiety issues, talk to your partner.

Yes, it's going to be embarrassing to open up and make yourself vulnerable, but look at it this way: Is it more embarrassing than petering out like a deflated balloon after only three minutes in the sack?
