No More Panty Problems!
She has noticed brown discharge in her panties for two weeks straight, after having recently begun taking hormonal birth control. What is causing this “disgusting” discharge? How can she get rid of it?
Case #: 1236
Concern:
Oh my gosh! You have to help me... I have this brown discharge that I have noticed in my panties. It is so disgusting and it has been going on for 2 weeks straight now. This is really driving me insane. I have been taking birth control but not for long. Could this be what’s causing the problem? I want to get rid of this disgusting discharge.
Discussion:
Yes, your birth control is what’s causing your discharge. But don’t throw out all your contraception yet! This is a very common problem for women on hormonal birth control, and it’s really not a very hard one to fix. Keep having safe sex, and solve your problems, with just a little science.
Why Now?
Normally, your body has it’s hormones pretty well under control—you might PMS occasionally, or maybe you’re not as well-lubricated as you might hope, but all-in-all your body does what it’s supposed to (menstruate and stop menstruating) without a glitch. Until now. When you start taking hormonal contraception, you’re introducing more hormones into the semi-closed system of your body. Your body is set in a pattern of how many hormones to produce, what kind, when to release them, and all that jazz.
Brain Drain
Now, there are hormones that are just showing up in your body; overloading your body’s normal levels, and confusing your brain and your pituitary, hypothalamus, and adrenal glands. “Do I need to make more hormones?” Wonders your brain, “Should I stop making hormones at all?”
This is what’s currently happening with you! You’ve been taking birth control just long enough to officially confuse your body. It’s reached the point where your body can’t process the extra hormones by just filtering them out through your urine, so your levels of specific hormones have begun to climb and are now impacting your body’s processes.
It’s Always the Hormones
Your brown discharge is the result of your body having too much of this and not enough of that. Specifically: progesterone and estrogen.
For some reason, most female bodies are comfortable with higher levels of progesterone, and can’t really be bothered to even out those high progesterone levels with equally balanced levels of estrogen. This creates issues such as spotting or excess discharge, or, in your case, both. Progesterone directly controls cervical mucus, and also encourages the shedding of the uterine lining.
It’s All Freaky to Me!
Without the balancing effects of estrogen, your body will create a much thicker mucus cap at the cervix, which is exuded as a thick, white discharge, and will also continuously try to flush the uterus of it’s epithelial lining, resulting in a light spotting of old blood. Thus, your discharge is just cervical mucus mixed with a bit of old blood. Nothing to worry about, but I’m sure it is annoying.
To fix that, you simply have to force your body to realign its hormone levels. It sounds intense, but your body does want to be balanced—it’s easier on all your internal systems. You need to boost your body’s filtration systems via improved circulation and stronger kidney and liver function. On top of that, you need to encourage your body to regain proper hormonal production.
Deep Clean
Beginning an herbal supplement can easily help your body to perform these functions. (TRY: Herbal Formula for Abnormal Discharge Correction) The one I’m recommending for you contains several herbs that are specifically helpful in your situation: Dong Quai and Rehmannia. Dong Quai is generally beneficial to the female reproductive area: it encourages detoxification and proper circulation. Rehmannia promotes natural hormone production and anti-inflammation.
I’m sure that by beginning this supplement you will stop experiencing that annoying discharge. Try to keep yourself well rinsed with water—it will prevent any smell or chafing you might be experiencing until your body naturalizes again. Best wishes!
