Painful Bladder & Female Orgasm Difficulty

Serious bladder problems can ruin sex. The persistent burning, irritation and frequent need to go to the bathroom can put a damper on romance, and many who suffer also experience pain during sexual intercourse. Formerly considered a menopausal disease, many women are now being diagnosed in their twenties.

Persistent pain in the bladder or pelvis, a constant urgency and frequent urination are all signs of painful bladder syndrome or interstitial cystitis. Pain typically increases as the bladder fills and is relieved during urination; however, sometimes a burning pain is also experienced in the urethra while urinating. There may also be difficulty in starting the urine stream and discomfort while driving, traveling or sitting.

Prescription drugs used by urologists have many adverse side effects.

The bladder coating drug that prevents a leaky bladder, can cause strong gastrointestinal upset, hair loss and liver damage.

Low dosage antidepressants interfere with the nerve associated with chronic bladder pain and are often prescribed for bladder spasms, but long term use contributes to heart problems (cardiac arrhythmias, tachycardia), dry mouth and drowsiness. Dry mouth and drowsiness are also side effects of anti-spasmodic drugs issued to relieve bladder spasms and chronic pain.

If the side effects of prescription medications are a concern, there are herbal formulas for painful bladder syndrome. Combined with mineral therapy and specific massage, these are very effective natural remedies.
