Smoking Marijuana Impairs Male Fertility
Marijuana and infertility—seems like an odd pair. But according to an article published by the BBC, marijuana use can lead to male infertility and poor sperm health, causing sperm to move at an abnormal rate and die before reaching an egg for fertilization.

Just imagine each puff of weed, every ounce of the cannabis may take you closer to infertility. And while the substance remains popular among certain segments of the population, the plant may lead to an insidious side effect among males.
Why is Weed so Dangerous?
THC, the main chemical contained within marijuana, interacts with sperm cells.   Some research suggests that the use of marijuana leads to poor swimming patterns that prevent sperm from reaching an egg for fertilization. According to WebMD, heavy consumption of marijuana can also decrease testosterone levels, as well as sperm count quality .
Other research suggests that marijuana has an effect on the body’s testosterone levels. In a study done by the Marijuana Library, a 16-year-old boy who smoked marijuana since age 11 experienced “no pubic hair, small testes and low testosterone levels.” However, after smoking stopped, the study found, growth resumed and serum testosterone reached normal range.   Scientists have also found that “22 men who smoked marijuana about four times a week for an average of 5 years produced less semen and had fewer sperm than nonsmokers.”
