It Ain’t Desire! - When a woman burns, it’s usually a bacterial matter

When a woman says she’s “burning with desire” she may be referring to feelings stemming from her vagina, but not in the literal sense (obviously). When she says matter-of-factly that she’s “burning down there”, well, it depends on the context, doesn’t it? If it’s to her doctor (assuming to whom she is not at all romantically linked) you can be sure she’s lamenting the pain of burning.

She may not be happy to learn that birth control pills may be responsible for her discomfort. Or smoking. Or antibiotics. But there is a wide range of potential culprits for the inflammation, but one thing is certain – the vagina is a breeding ground for microorganisms. Women afflicted with frequent and chronic vaginal infections may have a scarcity of the ‘good’ bacteria, such as Lactobacillus, which have an innate immunity to, and have formed a solid coalition against, harmful bacteria. This prevents unwanted and unhealthy germ colonization from taking place.

Of course, there are numerous other factors that may upset the vaginas delicate balance. Obviously, poor hygiene is a major contributor. Dietary changes, prescription drugs and frequent sexual activity can also cause the bacterial disorder that leads to inflammation.

Did You Know?

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common form of vaginal infection in women of childbearing age? Besides burning, it can cause itching as well as vaginal discharge. However, most cases of BV display no symptoms at all!

Sometimes, combined factors such as these that can lead to an overgrowth of pathogens (germs) that develops into the common condition of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). Most BV is caused by Anaerobic Bacteria such as Gardnerella, Mobiluncus, Bacteroides, or Mycoplasma. When these harmful microorganisms are taking over, they’ll manifest themselves in the form of the initial complaint, the discomfort of vaginal burning. Other symptoms such as foul odor, abnormal discharge, itching, and pain may appear as well.

If left untreated, or if the infection is prolonged, BV will increase the risk of developing into more serious conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease or sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. Research reports indicate that BV may also increase the risk of complications during pregnancy.

Fortunately, there are natural ways to combat infections like BV. Among the most effective are oral probiotics that essentially ‘out-compete’ the harmful bacteria. Current biomedical technology offers various polysaccharide matrixes that protect the oral probiotics from stomach acid, increasing their survival rate in the lower intestine so they can colonize and ultimately protect the vaginal tract.

When abundant amounts of Lactobacillus and other probiotics reach the tract, the ‘good bacteria’ will inherently reign. When enough Lactobacillus has reached the dominant threshold amount, it will produce natural disinfectants; lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins restore the optimal pH levels in the vagina, eventually killing off the damaging bacteria and pathogens.

To prevent the adherence of harmful bacteria, a formula known as the Cranberry Remedy with Hisbiscus has been developed. Cranberry is one of the best-known natural remedies, with benzoic and hippuric acids that create an acidic environment that inhibits adverse bacterial growth.

In this formula, a combination of highly concentrated organic compounds from cranberry and Hisbiscus can effectively weaken the bacterium that has taken hold on the urinary tract lining and prevent any further colonization of harmful bacteria. Soon, the vagina’s health is restored to its optimal balance. Then, a woman is left with only metaphorical burning - for passion!
