Anal Sex Causing Hemorrhoids
Anal sex, when performed with care, may not present too many issues. Still, the practice can lead to ruptured veins that cause hemorrhoids. While uncommon, hemorrhoids from anal sex can present a painful, irritating symptom.
How Hemorrhoids Form
During your bowel movements, the anus fills with blood, and when you perform anal sex without proper lubrication, the veins will swell further than their typical level. And while most couples will heed the warnings, others couples will fail to use sufficient lubrication, a problem that causes rips and tears to the anal tissue.
Additional Causes That Aggravate Hemorrhoids
- Weight
- Straining during bowl movements
- Sitting for too long
Treatment
- Apply witch hazel to the exterior of the anus (treats external hemorrhoids)
- Medications and surgery can remove internal hemorrhoids
