Stimulating Your Senses – How to Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Body
The rigors of daily life can rob you of your ability to appreciate the little things. You may get so wrapped up in your stresses and responsibilities that you find your brain assuming full control over your body. You go from being a “human being” to a “human doing,” as you find yourself so caught up in the regrets of the past and the uncertainties of the future that you forget to simply live in the present moment. After all, it's not easy being a woman today, but you owe it to yourself to maintain positive mental health. It will profoundly impact every other area of your life, guaranteed.

Does any of this sound familiar? If so, the secret is to stop, take a deep breath and reconnect with your true self. If you're rolling your eyes and thinking, “Okay, easier said than done,” here are a few tips to to help you become grounded once again.

Reconnecting with Your True Self
  1. Meditate. Meditation helps us to wash away the negativity that invades our minds, and to simply feel once again. The trick here is to think less and feel more, and meditation will help you to succeed with just that. It can be as simple as shutting off the distractions, turning on some soothing music, closing your eyes and clearing your mind for 20 to 30 minutes a day. Focus on your breathing, feel the sensations inside your body, and quiet your mind.
  2. Take the emphasis off of your mind. If you find yourself constantly weighed down by stressful thoughts, don't fight them. Instead, focus on your body instead. If you battle your thoughts, you'll only work your mind even harder. Just try little things to get in touch with your physical side. Gently run your fingers over your lips, close your eyes and push your palms into your eyelids (you'll be amazed by how great an eyelid massage feels), use two fingers to press lightly against the part of your wrist that lines up with your pinky finger (it will send shivers throughout your body). In other words, focus on the feelings, and the thoughts will wither way.
  3. Have sex. Believe me, it can be a healing experience. Sex is a fully physical endeavor, which requires you to focus intently on the physical aspects of your being. If you struggle with libido, or if you can't seem to achieve orgasm during intercourse, there are herbs that can help. Sex can truly take you to a higher level, when shared with somebody special.
  4. Do something nice for someone else. Selfless acts can rejuvenate your spirit. Your own problems become less important as you're swept away by the beauty of making someone else's day brighter.

Good Mental Health is Good Physical Health
Positive mental health has been shown to improve immunity and even increase longevity. So take time every day to tend to this critically important but oft-overlooked aspect of your being. You'll be amazed by how it can edify every aspect of your life.
