Urethritis is Killing My Sex Life

The urethra is a canal that carries urine from the bladder. In males the urethra is channeled through the penis and also carries semen and sperm out of the penis.  A condition known as urethritis occurs when the urethra gets infected and inflamed.
 
A lot of males can have urethritis and have no symptoms at all.  Others experience painful or burning urination, itchiness, redness at the end of the penis, and pus or mucous coming out of the penis or causing the opening to stick shut.  While females get urethritis too, it seems to be more common in males when it's not also part of a urinary tract infection.
 
There are many causes of urethritis.  Irritation by substances, such as creams, lotions, soap and spermicides can cause a type of urethritis that cannot be spread to anyone else.  Sexually transmitted diseases, like gonorrhea and chlamydia, can also cause urethritis and can be spread to sexual partners.  Excessive sex or masturbation can also be a cause.
 
Physicians classify urethritis as gonococcal or non-gonococcal, based on its causation. Non-gonococcal urethritis has both infectious and non-infectious causes.  In men, purulent discharge usually indicates a urethritis of gonococcal nature, while clear discharge indicates urethritis of non-gonococcal nature.  Urethritis is difficult to diagnose in women because discharge may not be present.  However, the symptoms of painful urination and frequency may be present.

Natural Solutions
 

Herbs are useful in fighting infection, relieving pain, and strengthening the urinary system.  Cranberry Remedy with Hisbiscus is good for kidney health.  Green tea promotes antioxidant, anticancer and immune effects.   Cat's claw is good for anticancer, immune, and antibacterial or antifungal activity.  Bromelain reduces pain and inflammation.
 
Eliminate potential food allergens, including dairy, wheat, corn, preservatives, and food additives.  Eat antioxidant foods, such as blueberries, cherries, tomatoes, squash and bell peppers.  Avoid refined foods such as white breads, pastas, and sugar.  Eat fewer red meats and consume more lean meats and cold-water fish.  Use healthy cooking oils, such as olive oil or vegetable oil.  Reduce or eliminate trans-fatty acids.  Avoid coffee, alcohol, and tobacco.  Exercise regularly.
