“I’m very proud of my breasts as every woman should be. It’s not cellular obesity. It’s womanliness.” --Anita Ekberg
However large you may want your breasts to be, there are two basic implant procedures to choose from: saline or silicone. Both have their pros and cons, although most women claim that silicone implants feel more like the real thing than those filled with saline. Both types of implants are encased in silicone shells, but saline implants are filled with sterile salt water; silicone breast implants, with silicone gel.
The pros and cons of silicone breast implants
Besides oxygen, silicone is the most common element on Earth. When this chemical compound is formed into gels, it is used for facial reconstruction and artificial joints. However, silicone breast implants pose a smaller health risk than saline. If silicon implants rupture and leak, the gel can spread outside the breast and enter the lymph nodes. Because of these hazards, the FDA banned the sale of silicon implants, demanding more research to ensure their safety. This led to increased studies and the resumption in sales after 2006.
Silicone implants, as well as saline, can rupture without warning. However, saline ruptures are easier to spot because of the obvious changes to the breast size, and because they’re made from salt water, saline implants present less harm to the body. And even silicone gel presented some controversy concerning a potential connection to tissue disease, but the Institute of Medicine concluded that no evidence can support this claim. If and when a rupture happens, the implants will need to be either removed or replaced.
Saline Implants
silicone implants are pre-filled; saline are filled after they are implanted. Saline implants require a smaller incision, allowing the breast implants to be adjusted even months after surgery. In the United States, saline implants are more frequently used even though they are more likely to cause the skin to swell or ripple.
The cost of breast implants depends on several factors: the location, the doctor, and the type of implant used. One of the problems associated with this surgery is the fact that many insurance companies do not cover the cost because it is considered cosmetic and the patient must be prepared to foot the bill, which could easily range from $5,000 to $10,000.
There are no magical formulas that can transform the size and shape of breasts, but there are exercises that can enhance breast fullness by improving posture and strengthening the muscles of the chest. Exercise solutions include the chest press which utilizes dumbbells; the cobra stretch, a pushup exercise; the praise pose stretch which entails kneeling; the chest lift; and the downward dog which keeps your body in an inverted V position. When combined with an all-natural formula, you can improve the shape and size of your breasts. (See: Natural Ways For Bigger Breast Growth).
Lifestyle changes can be effective and lasting. Explore all your options before undergoing breast augmentation surgery. Even if you decide not to go through with it, the worst that could happen is that you would become educated on an important subject.
