Is
Too Much Testosterone Giving You Premature Ejaculation?
Testosterone is a very important, if not the
most important, hormone affecting the male body. Known as an androgen
(male sex hormone), testosterone is responsible for several things
affecting both the male and female body. For males however, testosterone
controls the development of their primary and secondary sex characteristics:
| |
• Development of the Penis
• Libido (also for women) • Sexual Behavior • Maturation
of Sperm • A Deeper Voice • Body and Facial Hair Growth
• Aggression |
Insufficient testosterone levels –
due to age, disease, physical abnormalities, or drugs – has
generally been known to cause such problems as decreased libido
and interference with the development of sexual organs. But what
happens when your hormonal imbalance is giving you too much testosterone?
Several things may occur, but a common sexual consequence is premature
ejaculation.
The Male G-Spot?
The physical cause of premature ejaculation is sometimes attributed
to an enlarged or inflamed prostate. Normally the size of a walnut,
it can magnify to the volume of a grapefruit. The increased size
of the prostate causes problems affecting urination (constant urge,
pain or burning sensation, and difficulties) and sexual functioning
(impotence; pain from ejaculating; pain in the groin, penis, or
testes; and of course premature ejaculation). In the case of premature
ejaculation, an enlarged prostate has the effect of stimulating
an orgasm.

Did you know the ability to ejaculate is controlled by our Sympathetic
Nervous System? Conversely, the ability to stop yourself from
coming is controlled by the Parasympathetic Nervous System.

Some of you might have heard the prostate referred to as “the
male G-spot”. There are even websites advocating and explaining
how to massage the prostate, by means of the rectum, to induce an
orgasm. It is possible for a man to climax through this method.
What you’re simply doing is simulating the physical response
that is normally given by your brain when you’re excited.
An enlarged prostate has some of the same effects you get from
massaging your prostate with a finger. The increased size of the
prostate lends itself to being more easily rubbed during sex. If
you are also squeezing your PC muscles
– which you are most likely doing if you have premature ejaculation
or a weak erection – then you’re adding even more pressure
to your prostate.
DHT is Blowing Up My Prostate!
So what’s boosting the size of your prostate? There are several
factors that can lead to an inflamed or larger prostate, such as
diet, drugs, hyperthyroidism, cancer,
or physical abnormalities to name a few. But the most likely cause
of an enlarged prostate is due to high levels of testosterone.
Your body can only utilize so much testosterone at one time. What
it isn’t able to use at the moment gets converted into dihydrotestosterone
(DHT). The most concentrated area of conversion is located . . .
you guessed it . . . right in the prostate. The high amount of testosterone
circulating in your body is overworking and overheating your poor
little prostate. The converted hormone builds in concentration because
the body isn’t able to utilize all that extra DHT.
