Black Cohosh

Botanical Names: Actaea Racemosa, Cimicifuga Racemosa
Known as a cooling energy tonic with antispasmodic and sedative properties, Black Cohosh contains a mixture of sweet, spicy and slightly bitter tastes, and it is revered for its meridian affinity that helps the large intestine, lungs, spleen and stomach.
Asian and Native-American women use Black Cohosh for its anti-inflammatory properties by relieving sharp, interspersed pain during the menstrual cycle. Black Cohosh too helps quell hot flashes for menopausal women. Because Black Cohosh contains cimificifugamide, isoferulic acid, ferulic acid, cimigenol and isocimicifugamide, the herb may help with the regeneration for pathological and hormonal issues, including vaginal pain and insensitivity, menopause issues, female low sex drive, and prostate pain and enlargement symptoms.
