At a recent get together, a distraught friend shared a story with me. He had recently met a fabulous girl and things were progressing in just the way he hoped. He’s been rather unlucky in love, so I was happy for him.
One night, they were back at her place, relaxing, hanging out, getting to know each other. After a few hours, it fell apart for my friend. It took some coaxing to get him to admit the problem, but according to him he couldn’t get it up.
Lucky Him
Lucky for him he got another shot with his new gal, but he wanted to know what was going on. He was a healthy 23-year old who had never experienced anything like this before. He was always solid when the moment came. And together we ran through his lifestyle--He worked out; he was healthy; and he didn’t suffer from any injuries. But one thing that stuck out to me was that he confessed to smoking marijuana that night. In fact, he admitted smoking marijuana for years now and never had a problem till recently.
Aha!
I told him how marijuana affects blood flow and hinders the production of nitric oxide, an important molecule for stimulating the penis. Without a proper amount of nitric oxide in the body, men experience a weaker erection. In addition, his body produced more prostaglandin E-2, an inflammatory hormone that relaxes the muscles, because of his avid smoking habits. With too much of it in the body, the arteries become inflamed and constricted causing that troublesome slow blood flow that ruins a healthy erection.
I reminded my friend of the toxins too much weed could create inside the body. Being a regular marijuana user put him at risk for a buildup of toxins, so a detox plan would be in his best interest.
American Ginseng, for example, enhances nitric oxide and acetylcholine production. This would help penis stimulation and get his blood flowing again. Other healing herbs that improve blood flow specifically to the penis were Cornus and Alima Plantago.
