Pop quiz: What do masturbation and smoking have in common? Answer: They both feel great, they're both illegal in restaurants, and they both cause hair loss. Yes, hair loss. It's an odd phenomenon that most severe hair loss causes have nothing to do with hair. Baldness isn't caused by wearing hats or using bargain shampoos, but it can definitely be caused by seemingly unrelated behaviors like smoking and masturbating.
Smoking and Masturbation – More Than Just Lung Cancer and Chaffing
According to a report published by the US National Library of Medicine, smoking is linked to hair loss for numerous reasons. For instance, cigarette smoke damages the microvasculature of the dermal hair papilla; smoke genotoxicants cause damage to DNA of the hair follicle; and chronic smoking compromises the immune system making it more difficult to stimulate the growth of new hair follicles.
And then there's the masturbation factor. Chronic masturbation causes large amounts of testosterone to convert to DHT. DHT is fine in moderate doses, but too much of it creates an inflammatory reaction,  inhibiting hair growth and contributing to the scourge of male pattern baldness. One minute you look like Zac Efron, and the next you look like George Costanza. So if you enjoy navigating the World Wide Web of porn with a hand between your legs and a cigarette in your mouth, you're in serious trouble.
I Don't Want to Live (Like This) Anymore
Maybe you're thinking, “I could live with lung cancer and emphysema, but hair loss is just more than I can bear.” Just hearing about all of this is so stressful that it makes you want to light up a Marlboro and have an orgasm, but don't be discouraged. You can slow or reverse the damage, but it's going to take some serious self-discipline on your part. For starters, kick the smoking habit. If you need a support group, go for it. It's completely worth it. it will help you with not only your embarrassing hair loss issue, but also your life expectancy will increase. Smoking causes numerous cancers, stroke, and heart disease, and is the leading preventable cause of death in the world, with more than 5 million deaths per year.
Second, cut back on the masturbation. In some cases, this can be even more difficult, because it's not as though you can flush your penis down the toilet and chew a piece of orgasm gum. For this one, you're going to need to summon all of your self-control. You don't have to give it up entirely, but you do need to learn the value of moderation. So next time you feel tempted to venture down a digital hallway filled with eager coeds and insatiable housewives, just pat yourself on the top of the head and remind yourself why you're fighting the good fight.
When Cold Turkey Isn't Enough
Finally, you're going to need to stimulate new hair follicles and restore your hormones to their optimal levels. Herbal solutions like Turmeric, Fo Ti, Green Tea Extract, Ashwagandha and Suma (See: Natural Remedy For Extremely Severe Hair Loss) can be hugely helpful for restoring good hormones like testosterone and HGH while repressing the potentially harmful hormones like DHT and cortisol.
Maybe you're thinking, “No way, man. Give up my smokes and my porn? Totally not worth it.” Well, the choice is entirely up to you. If you feel self-conscious, you could always just wear a rainbow beanie with fake dreadlocks hanging from the back. No one will realize that you're actually bald, and the urban youth will respect you...maybe...possibly...probably not.
