Question:

Hi, Dr. Lin. I'm thirty years-old and wake up sometimes without an erection. I used to do a lot of heavy weightlifting/bodybuilding and after reading the horror stories about steroids and erection dysfunction, I thank God I never tried them. But I took every supplement under the sun. You name it, from creatine, yohimbe, to whey protein drinks and blue-green algae. I discontinued them because my body was getting toxic. From what, I don't know. The doctors couldn't find out. I did notice shrinkage of my penis after doing heavy squats, etc. Is there a product that I can take that would enhance my length an inch or two? I've been taking sports supplements for years. Do I need them or is it psychological? Lastly, would bodyweight exercises affect my ability to have a rock-hard erection? Is L-arginine supplementation essential for nitric oxide production? Thank you for your time, Dr. Lin.

Answer:

Creatine causes shrinkage in the penis and testicles. Also, when you do extreme exercises, your stressor hormones epinephrine and cortisol can become high enough to shut down your testicular function, particularly with a high dose of creatine to disable the liver and kidney/adrenal support. You become incapable of producing sufficient androgen sex hormones and converting acetylcholine to nitric oxide and cGMP, which means you will not get sufficient blood flow and oxygen to your genitals.

ViaPal-HGH-P, ArginOx and fish oil (1000 mg each meal) will help you gradually rejuvenate your neuro-endocrine function and boost your prostaglandin E-1/E-3, oxytocin and nitric oxide production for harder erections.

In answer to your question, nitric oxide is derived most commonly from the amino acid L-arginine or, alternatively, from nitrogen compounds in foods.

Finally, there are a number of herbs that safely and effectively contribute to penis enlargement. Native Africans have used Yohimbe for many centuries as a means of improving sexual performance, enhancing sexual desire and pleasure and as an effective treatment for Impotence. Ginkgo biloba contains several unique chemicals that are known to increase blood flow to the brain, hands, feet and genitals. It also improves the tone and elasticity of blood vessels. Siberian ginseng helps to enlarge the penis by increasing the levels of nitric oxide within the erectile tissue of the penis. Nitric oxide is a neurotransmitter that is very important for normal erectile function, increasing blood flow to the penis. Horny goat weed is often used as one of the ingredients for penis enlargement which helps the blood vessels in the penis to dilate, increases blood flow, and promote stronger, fuller erections. Damiana helps to enlarge the penis by acting as a powerful aphrodisiac and nerve stimulant.
